Sample itinerary

A suggested starting point, not a confirmed departure. Routes, stays and activities are subject to your dates and availability; wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.

  1. Day 1 · Arrive in Arusha

Settle in after your flight and review the route before setting out.

  2. Day 2 · Tarangire

Explore riverine habitats and baobab-studded plains, then continue toward the Karatu area.

  3. Day 3 · Into the Serengeti

Cross the Ngorongoro highlands toward the Serengeti; allow most of the day for travel and sightings along the way.

  4. Day 4 · Serengeti

Spend a full day exploring the plains with picnic stops and game drives adapted to current wildlife movements.

  5. Day 5 · Serengeti to the highlands

Enjoy a final morning drive before returning toward Ngorongoro.

  6. Day 6 · Ngorongoro Crater

Descend for a crater game drive, then return to Karatu for the night.

  7. Day 7 · Return to Arusha

Travel back to Arusha, allowing a comfortable buffer before any onward flight.

Where to stay

Choose lodges around Karatu and tented camps in the Serengeti. Camp location should match your dates and wildlife priorities rather than a fixed property list.

When to travel

June–October is generally dry. January–March can suit a southern Serengeti extension. Migration movements vary with rainfall; river crossings are never guaranteed.

What to pack

Bring layers for chilly highland mornings, binoculars, sun protection and a soft-sided bag.

Your quote, clearly defined

Request an itemised quote covering accommodation, meal plans, park and conservation fees, guiding, vehicle use and transfers. Domestic flights and special activities should be listed separately where applicable.

Do not assume international flights, visas, travel insurance, gratuities, drinks or personal purchases are included. Your final written proposal defines the inclusions, exclusions and booking terms.

Frequently asked questions

Will I see the migration?

The best area depends on the month and rainfall. Discuss your dates before choosing a camp; this sample route does not promise migration sightings.

Can Lake Manyara be added?

Yes, ask for an extra day or a change to the park sequence rather than squeezing more driving into each day.
